Diva Cup Rocks!

Have you ever heard of a Diva Cup? Neither did I until 3 months ago. I first saw a small ad for this product in a magazine. I saw that it was a menstrual cup - "how disgusting" I thought. But my curiosity got the better of me and I decided to do some online research to find out more. I ended up spending about at least a couple of hours reading up on reviews, FAQs, and how to use it before I was completely sold on it. The gist of this product (without trying to gross anyone out) is that it's a menstrual cup that is worn to collect the fluids which is later removed and emptied out. You just wash it and re-insert.
I would suggest visiting the product website because it's a wealth of information: www.divacup.com.
Here's what the Diva Cup looks like:

I bought the Diva Cup online and have used it for 2 cycles already and feel very comfortable with it. The first couple of days that I used it, I used a pantyliner just in case of any leaks (yuck). Luckily, I had no problems with leakage and felt comfortable enough afterwards to use it solo. Emptying the cup isn't all that bad after you get used to it. I've used both pads and tampons and for me, this is the best solution for me when my monthly friend comes around. Another thing that I did was trim the stem of the cup down a bit so that it would feel more comfortable. Now when I wear it, I don't feel a thing.

Here are some of my top reasons I love using the Diva Cup:
  1. It's environmentally friendly - think about how many feminine hygiene products wind up in the landfills!
  2. It saves money since you don't have to buy pads and/or tampons every month
  3. Boy does it feel so much better and cleaner than wearing a pad
  4. Doesn't dry you out the way tampons do
  5. Light flow or heavy flow? Doesn't matter because the Diva Cup works at any time during your cycle!
  6. Convenient because you don't have to carry around pads or tampons (a definite plus if you're on vacation or camping)
  7. You can't feel it at all when you're wearing it
Here are some (small) cons:
  1. You have to be near a sink to rinse the cup after emptying it
Solution: Use a baby wipe to wipe it off OR carry a tiny spritz bottle and spray the cup and wipe it dry with toilet paper
  2. Okay, emptying it isn't the most pleasant fun thing to do but c'mon there's so much less waste in the landfills
  3. It takes a bit of getting used to when you first use it
    Solution: Practice, practice, practice!
Honestly, I feel that there are more pros than cons to using this product so you should really give it a chance because you might like it as much as I do.

Where to Buy:
After my hours of research, I believe I have also found the cheapest place to purchase the Diva Cup online. Go to www.iherb.com and you can purchase it for $18.99. Use iHerb referral code HIN089 and you'll save $5 off your first purchase. I'd like to add that their shipping charges are VERY reasonable - even to Canada!

Please post your feedback if you have tried the Diva Cup - I'd love to hear about other people's experiences as well.
